The Olympics 4x100m freestyle relay this morning taught a powerful lesson on chasing a lost cause and not giving up till the end.
When US swimmer Jason Lezak plunged into the pool for the final leg of the relay, he was 0.59 sec behind the French 100m world champion Alain Bernard. It looked a lost cause at the 50m turn as Bernard did not look like losing it. Lezak didn't give up and kept plugging away. In what was a sensational finish, Lezak powered home to beat Bernard at the finish line by a tenth of a second!
To the US, it kept alive Michael Phelps' dream of 8 Olympic golds but more importantly to me, it showed what perseverance can do.
